MSA is consistently ranked amongst the best in the UK for the quality of teaching, research and the strong links with architectural practitioners. I consider myself as an artistic and creative person who loves to turn idea into reality. Studying in MSA provides a lot of opportunities to showcase my creativity and ingenuity through assignments to build scale models, make surveys and talk to people. It’s a very active course with challenging, fun and satisfaction that I want to study.  I hope the school can grant me such valuable learning opportunity to develop myself to pursue the career in Architecture profession.
When the world moved into the 20th century, architecture reached new heights. From soaring skyscrapers to dramatic innovations in engineering and design, the modern era transformed the way we think about building.

The Swiss Re Building is one of my favorite buildings, designed by Norman Foster. The building uses energy-saving methods which allow it to use half the power a similar tower would typically consume. The uses of gaps in each floor serve as a natural ventilation system for the entire building. The shafts also create a giant double glazing effect and insulate the office space inside. I was impressed by both its use of nature resources as energy and interior design. The bar and dinner facilities on top two levels provide a wonderful environment for people to relax. It illustrates how architecture can improves human beings living in a “better” way. This building becomes an icon in the city of London with its unique style.

In Aug 2010, I had the opportunity to visit an exhibition of the Architectural Conceptual Plan Options for West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong. Three conceptual plans were presented to the public in the form of scale models, interactive 3D models, photomontages and animated videos for public opinion. I was impressed by one of the conceptual plans – City Park prepared by Foster & Partners. The visit inspired me a lot of insight of architecture studies.

The project balanced mix of land uses integrating arts and cultural facilities to improve visitor experience and enhances vibrancy in the district. The concept provides relaxing atmosphere and various green features which earned the support from the selection committees and most public. It illustrates how Architecture involves people and environment in addition to exterior and interior design of a building.

The visit inspired me the aspiration to become an architect of the project to work with other professions covering planners, various engineers and arts & cultural stakeholders and the public. It involves creativity, accessibility, connectivity, integration and teamwork which I hope to further explore in the architectural career.

This is a photograph that I took in Hong Kong last summer. It shows how packed and busy is in a city when there is limited space. The signs of the buildings are all over the place. I like to capture this distinct type of scenery in photography as it enriched stories of the old district. It inspires me that architecture could make a great difference to urban development.

When I first stepped into the Cathedral, I feel embraced by the quietness and the spaciousness of the place. The environment gives me a calm feeling which I would love to visit to appreciate the architecture and the interior design of the cathedral. I like how it uses the space to bring out the environment and the light coming through the glass.

The reflection on the sea is what light suppose to be look like. However, the lighting gives the shape of the building at night. It gives a spectacular scenery of buildings along the Albert Dock.

One day I walked around in Manchester and suddenly something shines on my eyes. It was the reflection of the sun shinning through the window. I looked up and saw this wonderful building so I decided to paint this building to remember this beautiful moment in my life.

This is a colour pencil drawing that I did for GCSE exam. I have used a lot of different colours and details to stand out the place (Liverpool One). It highlights the images as captured in the drawing and at the same time letting us to see a different view of the place.

This is one of my favorite buildings designed by Normal Foster. I used the technique of etching to outline the symbol of the building. I was impressed by the dramatic exoskeleton trusses. It is a very detailed piece and has a really good contract. I applied different colours of ink to this etching to create different mood and atmosphere.
